Installation steps:

1.

Edit resolv.conf and change "192.168.0.1" to the IP address of your primary DNS server.
If you don't know how to get the IP address of your primary DNS server, read the tip below.

Tip: To find out the IP address of your primary DNS server, connect to internet (If not online) and do the following:
On Windows 95/98/ME: Open Start Menu, choose Run, type in "winipcfg", click on More Info >> and use IP address listed next to DNS Servers
On Windows NT/2000/XP: Open Start Menu, go to Accessories, choose Command Prompt, type "ipconfig /all" and use the first IP address listed next to DNS Servers

Tip: If you use a DNS forwarder like Winroute or Wingate, use it's IP address in resolv.conf instead

2.

Edit the settings in the eggdrop config file, according to your knowledge choose:
eggdrop.simple.conf
(minimum) -> for beginners
eggdrop.advanced.conf (standard) -> for intermediate
eggdrop.complete.conf (all features) -> for experts

  Tip: If your internet connection is behind a firewall then make sure you use eggdrop.complete.conf
  Tip: Don't use any \ / : * ? " < > | characters for the userfile, chanfile, nick and notefile settings in config file

3.

Copy the eggdrop config file and rename it to "eggdrop.conf"

  Tip: Make sure all file extensions are been shown in Windows Explorer. To check open Windows Explorer, go to Tools menu, choose Folder Options, select View tab and make sure the box next to Hide file extensions for known file types is empty (Not ticked).

4.

Open Command Prompt or MS-DOS Prompt
Change to the eggdrop's directory
For example, if the eggdrop was installed at D:\Windrop\ then type D: then cd D:\Windrop\
And run eggdrop in the userfile creation mode (If you have no userfile)  with "eggdrop -m"

5.

Once a userfile has been created you can run eggdrop simply by executing "eggdrop.exe"
